AstraZeneca's Mobile Clinic Visits Little Saigon

WESTMINSTER, California (NV) – AstraZeneca, a company specializing in biopharmaceutical research, partnered with NousLogic Telehealth Inc., a remote health monitoring center, along with doctors David Nam Huan Pham, Trinh Nhu, and Betsy Nguyen, to offer a free health screening event at Phuoc Loc Tho shopping center at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 9.
All services were completely free, and no one needed to bring any insurance card.
On behalf of the organizers, Mr. Nhu Huy Hoang, CEO of NousLogic Telehealth, said, “This is the first time AstraZeneca’s Aire Mobile bus has been in Little Saigon, and today, doctors are offering free eye and lung screenings for patients.”
Dr. David Nam Huan Pham stated, “I have been working with AstraZeneca since March to persuade them to participate in this event.” He added that the Vietnamese community has limited awareness of lung-related conditions.
“Our community mostly knows about tuberculosis and asthma, but there are so many other lung-related illnesses, like pulmonary hypertension, lung scarring, and pulmonary embolism, which is a blood clot in the lung, as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),” Dr. Pham explained. “The purpose of this screening is to remind the community about lung health. We hope to return around the Lunar New Year.”
Dr. Trinh Nhu said, “This time, I’m focusing on screening people for diabetic retinopathy, a condition causing eye bleeding due to diabetes. This disease often has no noticeable symptoms but can lead to blindness in diabetic patients.”
Mr. Nhu Huy Hoang noted that this was a trial screening to prevent lung and eye conditions from worsening in patients.
Mrs. Hoc Nguyen from Santa Ana said, “My husband quit smoking over ten years ago, but lately, he’s had a persistent dry cough. After his screening, the doctor said they’d call him with the results. I heard they have advanced diagnostic equipment here.”
Mr. Liem Trung Nguyen from Garden Grove said the medical team was quick and pleasant.
“They weren’t ‘acting important’ and spoke very politely. If they come back in the future, I’ll come again,” Mr. Liem said. “I usually hesitate to get check-ups for fear they’ll find something wrong.”
The AstraZeneca Aire Mobile bus is equipped with three small exam rooms, similar to those in a standard mobile home, but AstraZeneca representatives did not allow Nguoi Viet newspaper reporters to take photos.
